The lioness left the pride (8.10.08)

The lioness left the pride

The lioness left the pride

Though pride stalked long into the grass

Skulking around the undergrowth

Living delusional, living to last, lambaste.

Her visits became occasional

Though socials often attacked

Cruelty veiled in spirituality

History impaled, wounded, grief racked.

Cubs became independent

Though the loss of experience became a curse

Generations affected, redundant,

So by herself she existed,

Self-sufficient, self-medicating nurse.

And then the saddest chapter

Came at the end

Through her fear for all

As alone she left the desert

Too distant for any to hear her call,

As alone she left the desert,

Hidden, behind the invisible, hypocritical wall.
